My friend Jacob Shiohira and I took a class about entrepreneurship called “Innovation Process.” The semester-long project was to go through all the steps of making a startup. That sparked the entrepreneurship bug inside me. Jake and I had been talking about launching a startup off and on, bouncing ideas off each other.

One of my friends who had worked in Delaware for a few months told me about Insomnia Cookies that delivers warm cookies until 3 a.m. I told Jake about it, thinking “Oh, that’d be kind of cool, but I don’t know how to make cookies, and I feel like I’d get sued because I’d probably poison someone by accident.” So we thought, “What can we do that’s still a late night sweets delivery?” and we landed on ice cream.
